Acupuncture, also known as needle puncture, is a traditional Chinese technique. It involves the insertion of tiny sterilized needles into specific areas on the body. It originates from China and is spread rapidly in Europe and North America, and started to grow a high acceptance and popularity among the general public in the western world. The demand for acupuncture in London, Ontario is also increasing.
How It Works?
Acupuncture stimulates certain areas of your body in order to treat a variety of health conditions as well as your ability to heal. It is usually a continuous program that involves repetition of sessions. The cells at the specific areas on the body get triggered to initiate your inner life energy and to further create a specific healing effect on your body. If the cells get sensitized frequently and effectively, the body will develop a mechanism to heal itself.
What to Expect During Treatment?
Acupuncture treatment involves an initial examination that includes an assessment of your health condition, medical history, and symptoms. During the procedure at Oxford Spine Center in London, Ontario, you’ll be asked to sit or lie down depending on where the needles are being inserted.
Our acupuncturists use pre-sterilized disposable needles to stimulate certain trigger points of your body. The needles are inserted from 1 to 1.4 inch in depth depending on the nature of the problem and the underlying anatomy of the acupuncture points on the patient’s body.
As each needle is inserted, the patient should feel no initial pain but a deep sensation when the needle reaches the intended depth. Sometimes the needles get heated or stimulated with electricity after insertion. Once inserted, the needles will remain on your body for a few minutes up to half an hour.
